Negativity. Some may say we are surrounded by it, and I say we don't have to be. A positive, happy mindset will set you free. For lent only, do not allow yourself to adhere to the 'norm'. Take a breath and shed some positivity on those who need it most. If you feel yourself becoming negative, take a look at my 10 ways to help you give up negativity for lent.
1. If you're like me, and when you allow yourself to think and ponder about life, I stress myself out. It's usually when I'm trying to sleep, or walking to work, I allow myself to drift off into this negative universe. If you feel yourself feeling negative over a certain subject, distract yourself. Watch your fav YouTuber, browse your fav online shop and google photos of cute kittens. Don't let yourself get all tangled up with your emotions.
2. Talk to a friend! Get in contact with your bestie or reach out to someone who you haven't spoken to in a while. That's what FaceTime is for.
3. Bake yourself some goodies. Nothing makes me feel better than realising I've got some naughty cupcakes in the cupboard. Don't worry about your diet for one day of the week and treat yourself to something tasty.
4. Shop OBV! Shopping is an easy distraction from what's hurting, and damn I feel good when I find a bargain!
5. If you need to, talk to someone about how you are feeling. Sometimes it's best to get things off your chest. A problem shared is a problem halved after all.
6. Take a break from social media. There is a lot of hate and nasty content online. Social media is the WORST platform to go on when you're feeling low. Who would want to look at Victoria Secret models doing their thing on a hot beach in the Caribbean when you already feel like poop. Nah, grab yourself some ice cream gurl I got you.
7. Have a girls night in. Pamper you and your girlfriends, get your nails done, spend some me time! Stick on a movie and order a take away. Those nights are the best.
8. Write a letter to a loved one. I wrote a letter recently to my grandparents and sent them photos inside the letter. The joy on their faces is infectious.
9. Go for a stroll - whether that be the rural countryside or city parks. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed. Fresh air is sometimes what you need for a fresh outlook.
10. Take time to do what you enjoy! Whether that be reading, playing sport or listening to your favourite music.
Just remember to look after yourself. I got your back for 40 days and 40 nights, and after that you're all good to go. You got this, and then you won't need my help anymore.
